Ok so a friend has one of those small netbook things and needs to install a fresh copy of windows xp but the laptop doesn’t have a disk drive, now i have an xp disk, is it possible to say make an iso of this disk (which i have already done) and then somehow convert it or make it so if i put it on a usb flash drive i can then boot and install xp from the usb flash drive rather than have my friend have to go and buy an external disk drive just to install xp with? If this is possible can someone please tell me how its done!
Thanks :)

Ok, so I got my mom’s old computer, and it worked perfectly fine, but now all of a sudden, whenever I try to connect a memory stick of any sort (such as flash drives, PSP memory sticks, cell phones, mp3/Ipod, etc.), they don’t work. whenever I plug them into the computer, the bubble thing pops up saying that it was detected, but then I get a window that pops up saying that I have to install the drivers for it, but there was no disks or anything that came with the device to download the drivers from, and so the devices don’t work and I can’t use them at all. so I was just wondering if anyone knows anything I could do to make them work again on this computer. the computer that I have is a Dell Dimension 4400, and its OS is windows XP. well, thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!

Ok, I’m actually planning on switching my netbook over to Linux, I just don’t want to do it until I know if I can reinstall XP should the need arise.

That said: I have a MSi Wind U100. It boxed with XP, but I was not given an XP CD. It is a netbook, so it does not have a CD/DVD Drive. I do not own, and cannot currently afford an external one. I do have USB sticks, a 1G, 2G and 4G.

Is there any way that I would be able to reinstall Windows XP if I needed to? I’ve searched the net a bit, but all answers so far seem to involve an external CD drive or a Windows Restore Disk to copy to USB on another computer. I don’t have another computer, a CD/DVD or a Disk, so I’m a bit stuck if that’s the only way.
