It  can take up to a half hour to copy 1 gig. On the case it states 2.5″ Sata USB 2.0 certified

Also, when I copy data to it, a message appears ” Cannot read from source file or disk”.

I put another hard disk in it, but still same problem.

i know i can back up whatever files i have in XP, i can use an external hard drive…but is it best to use that?
i get used to back up files on CD’s
but i dont know which is the best way…
the best part of an external hard drive is that i can plug it into any computer with an available usb 2.0, and it will show up whatever files i have

=)

so is it best to use that?

I have a sony vaio vgn-ux1xn and i bought an external disc drive and it didn’t work when i plugged it into the USB on the laptop, but it did when i plugged it into the USB on the docking station. I know the disc drive is only compatible with USB 2.0 and I thought the one on the laptop was, but it must not be, so is there a way to change it to be 2.0?
it only has one usb port
